Our Story

Hello, my name is Karl Parke and I am the founder and owner of Bene Esse CBD.  Bene Esse is the Latin meaning for ‘Well-Being’.

I’ve been involved with martial arts and gym training for over 35 years, 20 of which I suffered from arthritis in my lower spine (L3, L4 & L5) plus facet joints.  In addition to this I’ve also had 2 operations on my big toe, the last one to fuse it.  As you can probably appreciate, to manage the pain I was suffering, I was constantly helping myself to mass produced pain killers out of the medicine cupboard at home e.g. paracetamol, co-codamol etc. and the dosage was creeping up all the time to keep the pain threshold manageable whilst carrying out my daily tasks.

Understanding that increased quantities of strong painkillers was unhealthy and unsustainable in the longer-term, I wanted to find a natural way to help my body heal and ultimately improve my overall health and well-being.  After listening to media coverage of the benefits of naturally sourced products, combined with doing my own research, I then discovered the solution to my health problems: Cannabidiol (CBD) which is an extract from the Hemp plant.

I was aware and very concerned about the negativity surrounding CBD arising from unscrupulous suppliers producing sub-standard products and the link to marijuana and the risk of feeling ‘high’.  THC is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana that gives the ‘high’ sensation.

Hemp plants are cannabis plants that contain less than 0.3% THC, while marijuana plants are cannabis plants that contain much higher concentrations of THC.  Knowing this, the only option for me was to find a supplier who can prove they work with the premium quality hemp farmers to produce the highest quality CBD products for the UK market and comply with all regulatory compliance and are THC free.

To further support increased regulation in the CBD industry, The Food Standards Agency (FSA) recently issued a formal definitive timeline for Novel Food applications setting a deadline for the 31st of March 2021 for companies to show the safety of their products.  This important statement from the FSA also covers dosage and states this should not exceed a specified level.  It further provides guidance for people taking medication as well as pregnancy.

The UK supplier I have chosen to work with is fully committed to full and complete adherence to the regulations around Novel Foods, Misuse of Drugs Act and anything else which may apply to the UK CBD industry and as such, will guarantee the safety and compliance of all my products ensuring they remain legal to sell and safe to consume.

All my products have been through rigorous quality tests and I have personally tried and tested all of them and am pleased to confirm I am now pain free as a result of taking CBD. My overall health and mental well-being have also improved dramatically.

Thank you for supporting Bene Esse CBD and I look forward to transforming your health and well-being.
