It sure is! From January 2017 UK law stated that CBD products derived from hemp plants are 100% legal to purchase and consume if they contain less than 0.2% THC.
Bene Esse CBD only sells products that are completely THC free (Isolate) or contain less than 0.2% THC (Full Spectrum)
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of over 100 cannabinoid compounds that occur naturally in cannabis plants. Cannabis flowers produce a sticky resin that contains these compounds. The flowers also contain terpenes, amino acids, and various other compounds.
CBD is one of the most popular compounds. The other is THC, the infamous compound known for its psychoactive high effects, and the reason for all the negative press and stigma attached to users of CBD. The good news is that perceptions are changing as we learn more about the positive effects of CBD when consumed responsibly. CBD is a good choice for everyone who wants to improve their health and well-being.
Cannabinoids are the natural phytochemicals within the cannabis plant. There are over 100 identified cannabinoids with CBD and THC being the most thoroughly researched.
Cannabinoids play an extremely important part in our well-being as they interact with our endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex network of cannabinoid receptors and neurotransmitters located in the brain, central nervous system, peripheral nervous system and immune system.
Our ECS is responsible for controlling many biological functions such as memory, pain perception, mood and stress regulation, cognitive performance and immunity.
Research discovered that cannabinoids have a unique relationship with our ECS and can influence it to produce more or less of certain cannabinoids, thereby relieving symptoms of stress or pain.
CBD works with your body and promotes good health and well-being.
Both hemp and marijuana are varieties of cannabis plants, each with a different composition. Marijuana, or Cannabis Indica, contains high levels of THC and is illegal to sell or buy unless for lawful medical purposes.
Hemp (Cannabis Sativa) contains less than 0.3% THC and is used to make CBD oil and other CBD products.
Definitely not! CBD is not a psychoactive cannabinoid and you will not become addicted. Your state of mind will not change if you take CBD at all. CBD will work with your body and can improve your overall health and well-being if taken regularly and consistently over a period of time.
CBD is a food/dietary supplement, the UK population spends millions of pounds on supplements every year as they provide health and wellbeing benefits as part of a balanced diet. The CBD market is no different and is growing at a phenomenal pace as adults of all ages recognise and experience the benefits that CBD can offer. Anyone suffering with skin problems i.e. acne, eczema or chronic pain will benefit from using CBD due to its anti-inflammatory properties. CBD also contains powerful antioxidants which outperform other vitamin supplements.
As a population, never have we been more aware of mental health and finding ways of dealing with the daily stresses of modern life. CBD promotes a healthy balance between mind and body and can be used to calm the symptoms of insomnia and anxiety. Don’t just take our word for it – this has been recognised in reports published by the World Health Organisation.
Please note CBD is NOT recommended if pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are taking other medication, please consult a medical professional before taking CBD.
Full spectrum CBD is, as the name describes full of other cannabinoids and substances from the hemp plant. It includes all of the terpenes, cannabinoids (such as CBN and CBG), flavonoids and fatty acids found in hemp – all of which work together to create “the entourage effect”. This can be described as the different compounds working together as a team to tackle different conditions within the body.
Isolate is CBD in its most potent form at 99.9% purity. The white powder can be mixed with a carrier oil such as the MCT oil which we use in our Bene Esse isolate range for improved absorption. There is no entourage effect with isolate but it does provide the highest concentration of CBD per serving which is beneficial for users who want a higher does of CBD and a guarantee that it is THC free and will not show up on a drug test.
Drugs tests will pick up THC as this is the compound which can create the ‘high’ feeling if taken in exceptionally large doses; this is the illegal element that causes much debate! CBD products sold in the UK contain less that the legal limit (0.2%) of THC so for most users there will not be an issue with passing a drugs test.
Users who take extremely high amounts of CBD per day or must adhere to strict drug testing rules as part of their career or profession should opt for a product made from isolate to ensure zero THC content.
We always recommend that users do not consume more than the recommended 200mg of CBD oil per day.
There are many factors that can influence this weight, lifestyle, CBD strength, dosage etc. so timescales will vary across different users. CBD is not a ‘quick fix’, it works with your body to improve symptoms.
CBD can be taken in many forms either orally (e.g. oils) or topically (e.g. creams) and both should be incorporated into your daily routine to improve overall health and well-being.
You should take it at a time that fits in with your daily routine or when you feel symptoms flaring up. Many of our customers prefer to take it in the morning as they start their day and then again at night to relax before sleep.
A regular routine is important when taking CBD to feel the full benefit; listen and work with your body to determine a routine that is right for you.
As a food supplement, the maximum adult daily intake is recommended to be no more than 200mg. If you’re a first-time user of oral oils, we suggest you go low and slow – start with 10mg twice per day. After a week, you can double that amount to 20mg twice per day. “Listen to your body” and increase the amount you take accordingly, without exceeding the 200mg daily amount. Once you feel the benefits, it’ll be easy for you to assess which is the best amount for you.
Our full spectrum oils and capsules are manufactured by a leading European GMP certified manufacturer. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification is necessary for trading with the pharmaceutical industry so you can be sure of the quality. We also test each batch of oil using an independent third-party lab to guarantee the CBD strength, terpenes content and no contamination from pesticides and metals.
Firstly, think about how you want to consume CBD – orally (oils, capsules, gummies) or topically if you want to apply a cream or balm to the skin to target a specific area of pain or inflammation. Or a combination of both to maximise the health benefits!
Secondly, think about what strength of CBD is best for you? If you’re new to CBD, then start with 500mg and increase your dose as you grow in confidence. Our range of oils cater for all needs from 500mg up to 3000mg for the experienced user. If you’re still unsure then we’d love to hear from you and will advise you on how to get started on your Bene Esse journey.
